The New Book Is Here:
Subtle Deception:
How False Teachers Betray Christianity,
While Enriching Themselves

The
following is adapted from the back cover of the book:
Charles Swindoll wrote about "The ultimate rip off." By that he
meant being deceived by the improper use of Scripture--biblical abuse.
Fundamentalism is less than pure literalism. It often includes selective
literalism and adopts a dogma based upon formulated opinions, promoting
only those facts that support the dictated opinions. Believers are expected
to disregard any facts that disagree with those formulated opinions--a form
of mental slavery which produces a disinclination for genuine dialog.
On the other hand those engaged in honest dialog do not seek to prop up
opinions, their own and others. They seek the truth, not a formula. They
allow themselves to be led by the facts, and they allow them to lead them
to honest conclusions.
This work was inspired by a warning presented to the Church several years
ago by Dr. Walter Martin who reiterated the warnings of Jesus in this
regard; "Watch out for false prophets. They come to you in sheep's
clothing, but inwardly they are ferocious wolves." His fears were well
founded. In this book a seasoned warrior for the cross attempts to expose
those pitfalls at the corporate level within the Body of Christ, and gives
extensive Scriptural support for his reasoning.
Many of us were raised with the notion the "Church" is a building or a
dedicated place of worship complete with a elite class of spiritual
leadership. Most often, Christians are introduced to the teaching that God
has ordained a system of clergy and organized religion for a people to
submit and who are also expected to finance.
The concept today is that the Old Covenant Jewish Temple/Storehouse and
priesthood is comparable to the modern institutional Church. We also have
been taught that maintaining it's support will bring blessings, favor,
provision and protection from God.
There is a real challenge set forth here that will be difficult for some to
embrace at first. That is to believe the Scripture when it differs with
one's own opinion.
The story presented here is to help one come to a comfortable conclusion on
these and other matters having to do with the "ecclesia."
Purpose dictates correct usage of what God designs. Discover His purpose
dealing with finances within the corporate body of Christ
God does nothing without purpose. Everything God designs is with purpose.
If we do not first discover God's purpose for a thing, we always will
subject it to abuse. Purpose dictates the correct usage of what God designs.
If we want to correctly use something God has designed, we must first
discover God's original intent and purpose behind the creation of His idea.
Biography
"There is nothing more revealing than the test of time," says
author Lawrence P. Vanyi. Raised up within the Evangelical Church
by devoted Christian parents, now 60 and well seasoned has had time to
observe the workings of the Church. Although professionally a Commercial
Electrician by trade, utilized what he calls "God's time-0uts,"--due to several
debilitating industrial accidents, and while confined, used the time to
Study God's Word.
Being brought up by Christian parents he was taught that obedience to God
was to be first and foremost in his life. It was then, at a early age, that
he was taught-- "Will a man rob God," and "you are robbing
God if you don't tithe."
His wife of 29 years Karen Ann an inquiring Believer, who gave him 3 grand
sons, brought him to question the validity of the teaching on tithing.
Giving this teaching the test of time and not seeing the promised bounty,
with plenty of free time, he went to God's Word for the answers. This
present work is a compilation of his former book effort, Legalism in
Tithing. Utilizing God's time out he compiled this the 2005 version called
"Subtle Deception."
